Volunteering Abroad
Saturday, December 25th, 2010If you want to volunteer in Africa it is a good idea to work out your finances beforehand and see where your money will take you travel wise. If travelling to Africa is definitely on the cards for you then you can rest assured that when you arrive there you money will stretch a lot further than it does at home. If you are looking for some volunteer projects abroad then Africa is certainly a location that is able to deliver. If you decided to volunteer nearer home in the USA or in Europe you would be restricted to teaching positions whereas if you travel to Africa you have a lot more options available to you.
For the adventure enthusiasts a volunteer program can also be incorporated with some extreme sports and adventure activities. You are able to volunteer during the week in a number of places including schools, orphanages and community centres and by the weekend take part in some adventure travel including Bungee Jumping at Victoria Falls or White Water rafting. You are able to spilt your time by volunteering in the week at orphanages or schools and then by the weekend you are able to participate in adventure activities such as Bungee Jumping and White Water Rafting. When you are in Africa it is important that you take advantage of all the activities as you may not get this opportunity ever again. If you decide to volunteer in Kenya then you will have adventure right at your doorstep.
If volunteering abroad does not really sound like your thing and you would rather save up the pennies for fresher’s week at university then think again. Fresher’s week is only a week at university for you to get used to your surroundings and to meet new people. A volunteer project abroad is a once in a lifetime opportunity which you may never have the opportunity to take again. Once you have completed university and get a job and a house it becomes very difficult to leave it all behind while you travel abroad.
