Salou Hotels: Explore Spain’s Luscious Landscape
Saturday, January 1st, 2011The Costa Dorada has been popular with British tourists since the tourist boom took hold of southern Europe and turned many of Spain’s small coastal villages into bustling concrete tourist resorts. The southern Catalan city coast has a capacity of 500,000 welcoming in excess of three million tourists per year. Salou hotels are very popular all year round as they provide tourists with very easy access to the Prades Mountains in the Spanish interior and the Roman ruins of Tarragona.
Visitors can take advantage of the beautiful beaches and have an exciting day at the Port Aventura theme park. A drive inland will take holidaymakers through one of Spain’s most famous mountain ranges, the Prades where Cellar and vineyard tours are very popular. Many climbers also come to the Catalonian Mountains for their outstanding natural beauty and for the thrill of a climb. The relentless Spanish heat is often very overbearing and a lot of people opt to explore the area in a more relaxing way via a Jeep tour.
You should make sure that you visit the north of Salou. Here, you’ll find the Roman ruins of Tarragona, and it’s only a short train ride away. The ruins are dotted throughout the city and include the remains of a large coastal Amphitheatre and an ancient chariot track. The old city walls can be seen at various points throughout the city and holidaymakers can get a ticket for most of the attractions for 3 Euros each or 10 Euros for five of the main tourist sites.
British tourists seem to love the Costa del Sol area, especially around the Torremolinos resort. The concrete towers make the area a little less appealing – but there is a lot of fun to be had around here. For visitors that want to head a little off of the beaten path there are some great natural sites near to the Torresmolinos hotels and resorts. A good day’s excursion can be had in a hike up the Sierra Nevada Mountain range.
South of Torremolinos is Benalmadena, which like most of the tourist resorts has beachside urban sprawl and bars and restaurants full of tourists enjoying their holidays on the Costa del Sol. Away from the modern new town and busy suburb of Arroyo de la Miel is the old village Benalmadena Pueblo. It’s very close to a lot of the Benalmadena hotels.
