Paris Hotels – Take A Walk Along The Seine This Winter
Monday, November 28th, 2011There is never a bad time to visit Paris as the city of light is as gorgeous in the spring as it is in the autumn. Paris becomes a winter wonderland of festive lights and cosy cafes in the winter so you’ll never want to leave your Paris hotels to go home.
Start as you mean to go on with the coolest activity Paris has to offer in the winter – ice skating. The first floor observation deck on the Eiffel Tower becomes a glittering ice rink where up to 80 skaters can glide and twirl around throughout December. If you’re afraid of heights though, head to the Hotel de Ville, where your backdrop is the grand Renaissance style city hall. Entry is free so you can afford to head out from your hotels in Paris and show off your best moves.
Head to Marias after all that exercise and find a spot in Le Loir dans la Theire, an Alice in Wonderland themed cafe that thrives on mismatched furniture. You might have to queue as the cafe is incredibly popular, but trust me, it’s well worth the wait.
Another well known Paris landmark is the Notre Dame and it becomes even more beautiful in the winter. The Notre Dame Cathedral Christmas tree is erected in December and stands proud at the front of this sight, twinkling and sparkling in the dusky light until January. There is a Christmas sound and light show inside the Cathedral, as well as a projection of the Nativity story.
Springing up in almost every district of the city during the winter months are merry-go-round’s, which are one of the most loved traditions in Paris. Relive your childhood as you head out of your cheap hotels and ride old fashioned cars and traditional wooden horses.
